Andy Goldsworthy is a British Sculptor, living and working in Scotland. He works as sculpture and photographer producing installations and land art with natural materials. Some of his work are currently exhibited in our show “TASTE”. Goldsworthy crafts his installations out of rocks, ice, leaves, or branches, documenting the changing landscape and his collaboration with nature through photography. “It’s not about art,” he has explained. “It’s just about life and the need to understand that a lot of things in life do not last.” In this activity, we are going to be inspired by Andy Goldsworthy to make some natural art.

To begin, you’ll need to collect as many natural objects as possible. You can get them from your garden or when taking a (socially distanced) walk. Look for leaves, twigs, branches, wild grass, pine cones, dried flowers or anything you find.

Once you have gathered enough, find an empty surface, either in your garden or at home, to start creating. Let your creativity flow while you arrange your materials in different ways. They don’t need to look like anything in particular, just move them around until you find an arrangement you like.
