On the 10 anniversary of the play The Gospel According to Jesus, Queen of Heaven by Jo Clifford, Glasgow Museums is commissioning a new print for the queer timɘs school prints series. queer timɘs school prints is a conceptual artwork originally commissioned from the artist, curator and educator Jason E Bowman with the first iteration of prints now in Glasgow Museums’ collection.
Background
This is a commission for one print in response to discussions held as part of the 10 anniversary mini-season for The Gospel According to Jesus, Queen of Heaven and a roundtable conversation held at GoMA. The artist brief and call out was put together by the cast of Untitled 2009 and representatives from Queen Jesus Productions UK and Brazil.
Artists are invited to submit an application for a selection process by the cast of Untitled 2009 and representatives from Queen Jesus Productions UK. The selected artist will be then asked to provide the print for the end of March 2020 which will then enter the collection of Glasgow Museums as part of the work queer timɘs school prints, ICE.2018.2. The invited artist is also required to provide a digital version of their print, in an unlimited edition, for which they will provide agreement that these may be issued, on demand, for circulation and display in secondary schools in Glasgow, and possibly beyond.
Artist
- The artist will be selected by Open Call, and a panel/ group from the people gathered for the discussion on 3 November 2019 will select the artist from the applications.
- We will prioritise applications from artists who identify as trans/ non binary artists of colour who work with the dissident body in their practice.
- The artist should have a significant connection to Scotland; whether through birth, family, current or previous residency and/ or citizenship.
Fees:
The successful artist will be paid a total of 1000 GBP to cover the full costs of producing the original print and the costs of delivering the print to GoMA. 500 GBP will be paid in advance to support the artist to make the print, with the final 500 GBP paid following the delivery of the collection print and digital file.

Please send applications by 24 January 2020 12pm to katie.bruce@glasgowlife.org.uk with a cover letter (or video link) detailing why you would like to be considered for this commission; a copy of your CV (if you have one); and up to 6 examples of your previous work. Applicants may submit up to 6 digital images or 2 video files. (Images should be no larger than 2MB, with a resolution of 72dpi – Images should be JPEG files, please note you may need to send images over 2 emails as the glasgowlife server accepts a maximum of 10 MB). Video files should be no more than one minute long. Please upload these to YouTube or Vimeo and paste links into the cover letter or email.

The print for the collection and the digital file should be delivered to GoMA by: 20 March 2020 or at an agreed date with GoMA, alongside a 50-80 word bio and a 50 -80 word description of the theme of the print.
