that sinking feeling is the final output from the 2020/21 GoMA Youth Group (GYG), a collective of young people aged between 16 and 25. This year’s GYG have been working with us since September 2020. Through this collaboration, they hope to help us develop the Gallery as a space where young people feel represented.

The GoMA Youth Group would like to invite young people aged 16-25 to take part in our 2020/21 programme.

We are looking for people with an interest in museums, galleries, or contemporary art. or who consider themselves creative and are looking to develop skills and experience while meeting like-minded individuals.

GYG’s Creative Responses to GoMA’s collection

We’ve been pretty busy over at the GoMA Youth Group. We had our first workshop on Sunday the 28th March exploring Hal Fischer’s ‘Gay Semiotics’ through zine-making. We’ve also been reflecting on some important recent events – LGBTQ+ History Month and International Women’s Month. These events give us all some time and space to think about our role either within these communities or as allies. The GoMA is celebrating its 25th anniversary and has been reflecting on its history of LGBTQ+ programming since the museum opened in 1996.
