Jesus 2000 Commission

Jesus 2000 Commission
Date: Spring 2000
Space: Stone Room
The Jesus 2000 Commission was run to commemorate the Millennium and the 2000 years of Christianity, a significant anniversary in the Christian Calendar.
This exhibition brings together proposals made by six artists shortlisted for the award. These artists come from a range of different backgrounds and work in a variety of media. They were asked to present proposals which reflected their spiritual response to the commission, ‘this could be [the artist’s] response to the life of Jesus, the Crucifixion and Resurrection; or a reflection on Jesus’ teaching and work’. The Jesus 2000 Commission reflects the city of Glasgow commitment to supporting contemporary art through its collection.
