Jim Lambie: Forever Changes

Jim Lambie: Forever Changes
Date: 10 April – 29 September 2008
Space: Gallery 1

Exhibition of newly commissioned work by Glasgow-based artist Jim Lambie for Glasgow International 2008.

Several spectacular new sculptures were placed upon a vinyl floor installation that encompassed the entire area of our large, neo-classical, ground floor gallery space. The exhibition showed the playful aspect of Lambie’s work and its visual connections with other 20th-century practices, such as the reference to a 1968 album by the American band Love, which gives the title to the show. Lambie got also inspiration from his everyday surroundings, producing installations in relation to the shape and the size of the room which, in combination with the monochrome strips of adhesive vinyl, generate an optical effect movement.
