Made in God’s Image

Made in God’s Image
Date: 24 May – 22 August 2009
Space: Balcony
The culmination of a project by Anthony Schrag and David Malone along with a number of participants of different faiths. The project worked with the personal experiences of people from the Christian and Muslim faiths to explore the often problematic intersection of sexuality and religion from an LGBTQI perspective.
The exhibition accompanied GoMA social justice programme sh[OUT] and showed the difficulty in illustrating how religions define LGBTI community, rather than how we define an LGBTI’s relationship to religion. LGBTI people of faith engaged in making works and having conversations about ageing, sexuality and the idea of matching two opposite aspects of their lives, their faith and their sexuality.
