the eyes have it is a series of photographic portraits of visitors to the gallery, staff and the friends by GoMA artists in residence Kathleen Little, presented alongside Positive Reflections.
They images show closely on the faces and, as her title suggests, the eyes of her subjects, with the intention of eliciting an emotional response from the viewer. Backgrounds and contexts are absent or immaterial; the subjects confront us one-on-one, as if demanding an answer. It’s almost uncomfortably intimate.
Positive Reflections is the result of Katheleen’s Little’s work on a project run by Positive Mental Attitudes; it includes graphic and photographic works created by Little with participants in the project.
The artist with a group of adults form Positive mental Attitudes at a series of art, writing and photography workshops at GoMA. This exhibition shows the work that was produced during these workshops. The Glasgow-based organisation was set up to provide support for mental health service users, enabling them to challenge the stigmas surrounding mental health, through creative arts and other activities.
