Artist Talk – Moyna Flannigan

In this recorded talk for GENERATION: 25 Years of Contemporary Art in Scotland, Moyna Flannigan discusses her work “Stare”. On it, she drew on the story of Adam and Eve to reflect an underlying conflict between individualism and conformity.

GENERATION: 25 Years of Contemporary Art in Scotland- Moyna Flannigan: Stare was on display at GoMA from 29 May 2014 –2 November 2014 in Gallery 3.

Moyna Flannigan painted images of fictional characters, focusing on the effects of power on personal, cultural and political identity. Often dark and ironic, her work is created from a multitude of sources, which are passed through the filter of her memory and vivid imagination. Her show at GoMA revolved around the figure of Eve as an original model of Woman.
