The GYG Festival: A Little Retrospective

The GYG Festival was a ten day programme of events the 2022 cohort of the GoMA Youth Group organised in collaboration with Glasgow-based artists, freelancers and organisations. This blog post shows some of the highlights of the festival in images, including a film from our Music and Improv event with Glasgow Autonomous Community Orchestra (GACO).

Pizza and Art with Lazy Susan’s Pizzeria

Attendees were invited to Govanhill baths for a pizza making workshop with Harriet Corcoran of Lazy Susan’s Pizzeria— each pizza was inspired by the GYG’s selection of works from the collections at GoMA.

Queer Tour of GoMA 

Our own member of the GYG Eden delivered a tour of GoMA and the LGBTQ+ stories in the collections.

Sign Painting with Sure Signs

The GYG collaborated with Glasgow-based sign painter Hana Lindsay from Sure Signs to deliver a sign painting workshop in The Studio at GoMA.

Rug Tufting with Sophy Louise Illustration

Sophy Louise, illustrator and artist, taught attendees needle punch as a method of rug tufting.

Introduction to Film Programming with GAMIS

Glasgow Artists Moving Image Studios delivered a presentation on their path to film programming, followed by a screening of Ursula Mayer’s Gonda (2012).
